to recover your body mechanics
Sports massage is a special form of massage and is typically used before, during and after athletic events. The purpose of the massage is to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries. Sports massage can help prevent those niggling injuries that so often get in the way or performance and achievement, whether a person is an athlete or a once a week jogger.
Across all disciplines, here in Quebec, we can always make out two broad categories of enthusiasts. The first contains professional and amateur athletes, who regularly make massage a part of their daily routine.
The second group, by far the larger of the two, is composed of weekend enthusiasts and casual athletes, who occasionally push themselves beyond their limits. Many of these part-time heroes eventually become victims of serious muscular pain. Sadly, they remain isolated witnesses to the body’s capacity to feel like a bowl of mashed potatoes.
Many weekend athletes still believe that “no pain” is “no gain” -- that painful exercise is the only way to improve one¹s athletic performance. And yet, high-level sports trainers often teach that massage can replace warm-up activities before an exercise session, or repair the damage done after strenuous activity.
By stimulating lymphatic and blood circulation, and promoting muscular mobility, sports massage offered at Studio Pressurat allows the patient greater amplitude and freedom in their movements, and therefore gives the athlete crucial strength and flexibility in order to train safely and effectively.
